Drove Jen’s mum to Filey to celebrate her 87th birthday with fish & chips, a paddle, and an ice cream.

Filey

It felt strange going to the seaside to do the sort of things most people go to the seaside to do. But I did spend quite some time gazing longingly across the bay through my binoculars at the distant white dots circulating above the gannetry at Bempton Cliffs. Other than that, my nature highlights were several herring gulls after my chips, a solitary Arctic tern fishing off the prom, and, most unexpectedly, a frog hopping along the beach, fleeing from the incoming tide.

A fun day marred only by mild sunburn.
