My online presences

Links to all of my websites and other online presences. I tend to spread my content widely, not to say thinly.

  My personal website, dedicated mainly to my writing, with the occasional photograph thrown in for good measure. (The site also has an RSS feed.)
• SubStack account (@richardcarter)
  I use SubStack for sending out my newsletters, but also make use of SubStack’s social media features.
• Bluesky account (@friendsofdarwin)
  Bluesky is a post-Twitter social media site showing considerable promise at the moment.
• Mastodon account (@richardcarter@mastodon.social)
  Mastodon is another Twitter alternative, although a bit more nerdy than Bluesky.
• Flickr
  A large selection of my photos.
• Instagram
  A much smaller collection of photos.
• The Friends of Charles Darwin
  For Darwin groupies the world over. You can join for free. Don’t forget to check out the blog.
• Gruts
  My original website, which has been online since 1995. Mostly nonsense.
• YouTube channel
  Videos.
• My Bookshop.org UK Wish List
  A list of books I’m thinking of buying myself, which occasionally comes in useful for people who haven’t a clue what to buy me.

Dead/moribund online presences

Some online presences I’m mostly avoiding these days:

• Twitter account (@friendsofdarwin)
  Twitter was heading rapidly downhill even before the narcissist took over. It has since become unbearable.
• Threads account (@freshgruts)
  In the post-Twitter aftermath, I set up a Threads account. As Threads is owned by Facebook/Instagram, I had serious misgivings about investing too much attention on this platform. Turned out my misgivings were well founded.

I run a small number of Facebook pages, but seldom update them these days:
