Melissa Harrison launched her new countryside-based podcast, The Stubborn Light of Things, this morning. The first episode was an absolute delight.

Jackdaws fossicking in the long grass as we took our early evening walk around the lanes. I prefer rooks, but find my fondness for jackdaws growing. So, surprisingly, is my fondness for the generally unloved woodpigeon.

A so-called super-moon in the late evening. In Hebden Bridge, it was veiled by hill-fog. I took some half-hearted photos, but, after a lot of digital tweaking, was able to recover far more detail that I’d expected.
